lygodium articulatum (bushman's mattress)
An endemic climbing fern with twining wiry stems and 10cm bright green leaves. Its rhizome is terrestrial. It is found in lowland forests in the upper North Island. This is the only climbing fern in New Zealand fronds will grow to an indefinite length as it climbs up trees.
